Training Mules and Donkeys
We use gentle and practical methods, treating each and every equine as the individual that they are. We limit the number of trainers we take monthly in order to give each animal the time they need to learn. Starting Under SaddleFor those who need to be started under saddle, we work first in the round pen, they will learn to walk, trot, canter and whoa through voice and visual commands. They learn to hold a bit, ground drive, saddle and are ponied on mountain trails before being ridden. Once a good riding experience is achieved in the round pen, they are ponied out into the mountains and we ride them back. Towards the last week or so of training, owners are involved to learn to ride and handle their new mount. 70 days minimum for 'starting under saddle'. Specialized and Finish TrainingWe train in Finish work, Western Pleasure, Omoksee Games, Packing, Mountain Trail miles, Trail Courses, Problem Solving, etc.... for clients who
wish to have their 'long ears' taken hunting we have overnighters and long day trips available for their animals during huntng season.
FeesTraining Fee: $575.00 per five weeks. Includes feed and board. Entry fees to shows, games/play days and the subseqent costs are additional. Working CattleOpen to all 'long ears', we will expose them to working cattle by way of gathering, herding and sorting. Training Fee for Working Cattle: $675.00 per five weeks. Includes feed and board. Winter TrainingDuring the winter months we lease an Indoor Arena for inclement weather days. We do ride in the snow when ice is not a factor.
